The following information reflects summer school information from last school year. Classes, registration information, fees and school hours are subject to change for the 2008-2009 school year.

*These courses are offered only to CCPS 11th and 12th graders
who have passed or are not required to pass the HSA and to Out-of-County students.
Make-up Extended Course
For Charles County Public School Students Only:
Any current 8th grader or student who entered the 9th grade for the first time
in SY 05/06, or later, who fails English 1, English 2, Algebra 1 Part 2, Algebra
1, LSN Government or Biology must meet the following requirements in order
to enroll in Summer School for the course failed.
*No more than 10 absences in 1st—3rd Quarters
*Must have minimum cumulative average of 50% by the end of the 3rd Quarter in
the course.
Any of the students described above enrolled in English 1, English 2, Algebra
1 Part 2, Algebra 1, LSN Government or Biology in Summer School will be required
to attend from 7:30 a.m.— 1:45 p.m. The fee is $300.00. These students
are not permitted to enroll in NOVEL for the above listed courses.

RegistrationRegistration forms and the
Summer School Rules and Procedures are available in all middle and high school
guidance departments. The registration form must be completed by the parent, verified by the school counselor, and signed by the
principal before registration. The Summer School Rules must be signed by
the student and parent/guardian and must accompany the registration form. Charles
County Public Schools graduating seniors must provide a completed graduation
release sheet from their school at the time of registration. Out-of-County
students are not eligible to participate in the Summer School graduation ceremony.

Early RegistrationMail-In Registration is available to CCPS students only. Following the registration procedures above, all required paperwork must be mailed to the Robert D. Stethem Educational Center. Summer School Rules and Procedures must be signed by both the parent/guardian and student. Payment in the form of Money Order or Visa/MasterCard must be included with the
registration form. Checks are not accepted. A confirmation of registration will be mailed to the parent/guardian once the registration form with payment has been processed. A student is not considered registered until confirmation is mailed.

Final RegistrationFinal
Registration will be held at the Robert D. Stethem Educational Center
(located at the former Charles County Career & Technology Center), 7775 Marshall Corner Road, Pomfret, Maryland 20675.

Fees$200.00 per course - Make-up class for Charles County resident students
$300.00
- Make-up extended class (English 1, English 2, Algebra I Part 2, Algebra I, LSN (Government or Biology) for Charles County Public School students only

$450.00 per course - Make-up class for non-resident students. Course fee is due at registration. Cash, Visa, Master Card and Money Orders are accepted at Final
Registration. Checks and partial payments are not accepted at any time.

RefundsRefunds will only be made:
- If a course is canceled OR
- A written request is received by the Administration by the end of the school
day Wednesday, June 25th.
NO
refunds will be given if a student is removed from Summer School for a
violation of the Charles County Public Schools Code of Conduct/Attendance policy.

Attendance Policy
Two (2) absences, excused or unexcused, will result in failure and removal from the course with NO refund. Two (2) tardies, excused or unexcused, equals one (1) absence. Suspension days are considered absences.

Transportation
Parents are responsible for providing transportation to and from Summer School.

Summer School Graduation ProgramHigh School
Graduation is held on the last day of Summer School. The graduation will include
CCPS students who have met the requirements for the Maryland High School Diploma. Any
student enrolled in NOVEL and planning to graduate during Summer School graduation
must provide a completed graduation release sheet from their school at the
time of registration and have all NOVEL work/tests completed and turned in to the NOVEL staff.
Out of County students are not eligible to participate in the Summer School graduation ceremony.
