More than 26,700 students attend Charles County Public Schools.

Charles County Public Schools serves students from prekindergarten to grade 12. There are 21 elementary schools, eight middle schools and six high schools. Elementary schools include prekindergarten through grade 5; middle schools have grades six through eight; and high schools are grades nine through 12.
 
Charles County Public Schools has a diverse student population.

  • 3.3 percent Asian
  • 51.6 percent African American
  • 3.4 percent Hispanic
  • .8 percent American Indian
  • 40.9 percent White

  • Elementary - 11,205

  • More than 80 percent of Charles County graduates are heading for institutions of higher learning or a trade school.
  • Recent graduates were offered more than $27.2 million in college scholarships.
  • Charles County Public Schools students have outscored state and national averages on the SAT for the past seven years.
  • Four high schools ranked in the top 1,200 nationwide based on the number of students taking Advanced Placement exams.
