 INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY STANDARDS 

Residence Eligibility 

  • Beginning July 1, 2007, high school students who transfer from out of zone at any time during the school year will be ineligible to participate in interscholastic athletics at the new school for one calendar year from the date of transfer.  Requests for exceptions to this requirement may be made in writing to the school principal who will forward it to the specialist in athletics who, in consultation with the director of student services, shall make the final decision concerning eligibility.
  • Any new transfer student or student not listed on the athletic computer program must have a transcript or report card indicating their grades and attendance for the prior semester.  Students will not be cleared to try out until this requirement has been met.  Students are considered ineligible until this clearance process is complete.

Academic Eligibility 

The following shall apply to all students participating in extracurricular activities:

  • No more than one failing grade per quarter.
  • At least a 2.0 grade point average per quarter.
  • Ineligibility commences upon issuance of report card at the end of each quarter. 

Attendance Eligibility 

Absent five (5) or more school days during the marking period with the exception of a medical certificate, court appearance, or special circumstances. (Student may be reinstated after attending 23 school days following the 5th day of absence.)  Students absent the entire day due to illness may not practice, compete, or participate in any activity.  Students suspended from school shall not practice, compete, or participate until they are reinstated and have attended more than half of their classes for one day. 

* If students are reinstated to a team, there is a mandatory 7-day practice period before participating in a scrimmage/game.

Participation in athletics is a privilege and carries with it the responsibility of exhibiting good behavior.
