Dear Stoddert Families,
Our year has gotten off to a great start! Your children have returned to find a newly renovated building and a rested and re-energized staff. Our pod areas have been enclosed, and our lockers and learning hall have been remodeled. The brand new student desks and chairs are due to arrive this week. It has been a busy summer at Benjamin Stoddert!
Another surprise for our 09-10 school year is that our enrollment is on the rise. Based on the number of students enrolled, we are being allotted two additional teaching positions. I am currently in the process of interviewing candidates for these positions. Once they have been filled, your child's schedule may be changed to a different instructor, as we work to reduce the student to teacher ratio in the Science and Social Studies classrooms. I appreciate your patience and understanding as we adjust to our 'growing pains' and I assure you that your child will continue to receive the rigorous instruction that you have come to expect from Benjamin Stoddert.
I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to two upcoming events. The first is our first Parent Teacher Student Organization meeting, which will be held on Monday, September 14th at 6:30 PM in the school cafeteria. This initial meeting will be an opportunity to join our PTSO and assist in the planning of events for the upcoming school year. The second event is our annual Open House. That is being held on the 16th of September at 6:00 PM and will begin in our gymnasium. You will have an opportunity to learn more about your child's classes, teachers and Stoddert's extra curricular opportunities. You will also have a chance to purchase gym uniforms, agenda books, and spirit wear, if you have not already done so.
