Student Service Learning (SSL)

United Way Host Sites

This document is available to those high school students who must complete an Individual Study Packet for their service learning graduation credit. In this packet, students are required to complete three community interviews, five news article summaries, and the two service star and service agency searches. To assist students in earning the credit of service learning by volunteering at a local non-profit agency, Charles County Public Schools has partnered with a number of agencies in the area.  The following agencies are approved Student Service Learning sites. Also in the Individual Study Packet is a proposal plan that should be submitted to the building coordinator for approval prior to the start of volunteer service.  Students needing to complete the Student Service-Learning requirement may contact these agencies directly to perform volunteer service.  Time should be recorded on the log sheet provided for proper documentation. At the conclusion, the reflection essay should be submitted in a timely manner to insure proper record keeping prior to graduation.
