Student Achievements in the Community

Often times our Somers students will have an accomplishment or achievement outside of school sponsored events that are worthy of recognition.  Below are just some of these accomplishments:

Congratulations to Pateley Bongiorni, 8th grade, who has been selected to receive the President's Volunteer Service Award sponsored by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program.  This award recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country.

Congratulations to Brooke Winters, 6th grade, who was able to raise $115.00 in less than a week for the Special Olympics and participated in the Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge (in the snow).

Congratulations to Hanne Wilburn, 7th grade, who has been selected to participate in the 2011 "Pro  Bowl" cheerleading squad next year.  She was selected after competing for a spot on the team in January 2010.  She will travel to Hawaii next year and perform as part of the half-time show!
