Vision/Mission Statement

At Milton M. Somers Middle School, the faculty and staff develop students who become reflective, life-long learners. The entire school community works together focusing on the unique needs of the middle school student. Our students develop responsibility and character in a safe and supportive school environment.

Throughout their developmental years, a Somers' education fosters in its students the discovery and development of talents and skills, leading to the acquisition of important life-skills focused on goal setting, risk taking, and personal accountability.

Through teamwork we will:

Promote the academic achievement of ALL Somers' students and nurture a love of learning.
Incorporate technology into every classroom to prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century.
Promote positive character and social development
Continually foster a positive climate.
Encourage our staff to grow professionally through reflection and sharing.
Develop partnerships with other members of the local community to meet the needs and interests of the Somers' family.
