Staff, Superintendent recognized for Relay for Life efforts
Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) staff and Superintendent of Schools James E. Richmond were recently recognized by the American Cancer Society for their fundraising efforts and contributions to the 2008-09 Relay for Life campaign.
During the 2008-09 school year, the school system raised more than $133,331 for Relay for Life. CCPS also had 100 percent participation in the schools with representation from each school and center.
The top three fundraising schools/centers were:
- Dr. James Craik Elementary School - $10,225 total donation;
- Westlake High School - $9,645 total donation; and
- C. Paul Barnhart Elementary School - $7568 total donation.
Additionally, Relay for Life teams from all schools and centers participated in a regional event held June 12 at Regency Furniture Stadium. The team from the Jesse L. Starkey Administration Building received a trophy award for "Most Fun Camp Site," and a team from North Point High School received a trophy award for "Most Spirited Team."
