Eighth Grade Team News

Some tips to help make your student's 8th grade year a successful year:

  • Checking the Agenda
  • encouraging your 8th grader to read at home
  • attending parent conferences
  • discussing the school day with your 8th grader on a regular basis
  • familiarize yourself with your child's teachers and friend
  • providing a regular place and time for study
  • help your son/daughter with school work when needed
  • communicating with the school when there are concerns / questions
  • showing an interest in courses and grades by asking specific questions
    • For Example:
      • "When is your next assignment due in Social Studies?
      • "When is your next |Science test?"
      • "What did you learn in Math today?"
      • "What are you reading in Language Arts?"

Teachers on the 8th grade team will:

  • treat your child fairly
  • monitor students with severe academic problems
  • be available as a team for parent conferences from 2:30-3:00 Tuesday-Thursday
  • plan activities to reward positive behavior
  • initiate referrals for special services as needed
  • coordinate efforts to help students succeed academically and socially
  • communicate with parents when we have concerns
  • inform parent(s)/guardian(s) of student progress on a regular basis via email, telephone, or letter
