Science Department Teachers:

6th graders in Earth Science will be completing the following objectives for December:

Cite features that can be used as evidence to distinguish among the three types of rocks and relate these features to the processes that form each rock type.   Describe the processes that change one form of rock into another (rock cycle).   Explain how sedimentary rock is formed periodically, embedding plant and animal remains and leaving a record of the sequence in which the plants and animals appeared and disappeared.   Cite evidence to confirm that thousands of layers of sedimentary rock reveal the long history of the changing surface of the Earth.

7th graders in Life Science will be completing the following objectives for December:

Based on data from readings and designed investigations, cite evidence to illustrate that the life functions of multicellular organisms (plant and animal) are carried out within complex systems of different tissues, organs and cells. (Extracting energy from food, getting rid of wastes, making raw materials)

8th graders in Chemical Science will be completing the following objectives for December:

Cite evidence and give examples of chemical properties of substances. Use information gathered from investigations using indicators and the pH scale to classify materials as acidic, basic, or neutral. Investigate and describe the occurrence of chemical reactions using the following evidence: color change, formation of a precipitate or gas, and release of heat or light.
