Welcome to Dr. Samuel A. Mudd Elementary School

Welcome to the Dr. Mudd Elementary School website! Please feel free to browse the staff listing and communication information, our monthly menu, the Judy Center links, as well as the many teacher home pages that are linked to our site.
Dr. Mudd Elementary includes Head Start to fifth grade. Our school has approximately 420 students. As a Federal Title I school, we are able to offer a variety of unique services. Among these unique services is the Dr. Mudd Judy Center. The Judy Center provides services to our children birth to age 5, through partnerships with over 25 county service organizations. These organizations provide access to an array of care, including Dentistry, Mental Health Care and Parent Education programs. HeadStart, another service, is an early education program for children at least 3 years of age meeting program guidelines. Our pre-kindergarten program is a half day program allowing us to serve twice as many children. Our kindergarten was the first and also the model for full day kindergarten programs in Charles County.
The Reading Recovery Program offers an intervention for struggling readers at the primary level. Orton Gillingham methods are used throughout the school to assist students with reading concepts.
At Dr. Mudd we provide an opportunity for our children to receive an academically challenging, quality education that builds character, equips for leadership, and prepares for life in an environment that is safe and conducive to learning.
