Supply Lists for the 2008- 2009 School Year

Pre-Kindergarten

- Book Bag (no rolling bags; must be big enough for a folder to fit inside)

- 1 plastic folder (regular two-pocket folder)

- 10 glue sticks

- 1 pair of Fiskars brand scissors

- 1 pack of watercolor paint

- 1 marble composition book

- 1 disposable camera

- Extra clothing for emergencies (underwear, socks, shirt, pants) in a Ziploc bag with your child's name on it

**Please label the book bag, folder and extra clothes with your child's name

 

Kindergarten

-2 beginner pencils (chunky pencils)

-2 pocket folders (pocket at the bottom NOT on the side)

-1 3x5 file box

-1 pkg. 3x5 index cards

-1 set of alphabet A-Z guides for a 3x5 file box

-8 glue sticks (white please)

-4 oz. bottle of glue

-1 school bag (BIG enough to carry a pocket folder)

Please we prefer NO handles or wheels

** 1 solid colored towel or beach towel in a labeled plastic baggie

** We will be using the WEEKLY READER to supplement our curriculum.  The cost is $5.75 (for 28 issues) and must be received by September 5th.  Please make checks out to WEEKLY READER.

 

Supplies to do homework at home

(These supplies are to remain at home)

-1 plastic box (to keep supplies in)

-1 pair of scissors

-1 box of crayons

-2 pencils (minimum)

-4 oz. bottle of glue

-2 glue sticks

 

First Grade

- 4 pocket folders with pocket at the bottom (not on the side) : at least 1 folder with 3 metal fasteners in the middle

- 2 marble composition books

- Wooden sharpened pencils (no mechanical pencils)

- 1 pair of scissors

- 4 glue sticks

- 1 plastic school box (no longer than 10 inches)

- Bookbag (preferably no rolling bags)

- $6.00 for Malcolm Agenda Book- Cash, Money Order, or Cashier's Check preferred written to Malcolm Elementary

- $4.50 Check, Money Order, or Cashier's Check written to Weekly Reader for a yearly student subscription

**Please no pencil sharpeners or ink pens

Second grade

- Sharpened wooden pencils (No Mechanical Pencils)

- 1 pair of scissors

- 2 red pens

- 1 large glue bottle

- 2 large white glue sticks

- 1 wooden or sturdy plastic ruler (12 in. and 30 cm.)

- 1 regular size plastic school box OR fabric pouch (large enough to fit supplies)

- 2 highlighters (different colors)

- 6 sturdy plastic folders with pockets at the bottom (Not on the side) in the following colors:    1 yellow, 1 blue, 1 red, 1 green, 1 purple, 1 orange

- 1 decorative folder of your choice

- 1 pack of wide-ruled loose leaf paper

- 1 5-subject notebook (preferably one with a plastic front cover)

- 1 black and white composition book

- $6.00 for Malcolm Agenda Book-  Cash, Money Order, or Cashier's Check preferred (made payable to Malcolm Elementary)

- $4.50 Check or Money Order made payable to Scholastic News for a yearly student subscription (Cash Not Accepted)

Third Grade

-Zippered pencil case (not a plastic box) containing:

     2 jumbo glue sticks, large eraser, scissors, wooden  (not mechanical) pencils, and 

     3 highlighters (each a different color)

- Ruler with inches and centimeters

- 3 packs of notebook paper

- 1 black/white composition book and a red plastic folder labeled Science

- 4 spiral notebooks (3-subject with perforated pages and an inside pocket if possible) 1 each labeled Reading, Writing, Math, and Social Studies

- 1 Decorative or plastic foldered labeled Homework Folder

- 1 large book cover for math book (nothing with adhesive)

PLEASE LABEL ALL THE ABOVE LISTED SUPPLIES WITH YOUR CHILD'S NAME

-5 pocket folders (plastic if possible) in these colors: 1 red, 1 green, 1 yellow, 1 purple, and 1 blue.  DO NOT LABEL THESE FOLDERS WITH YOUR CHILD'S NAME

Fifth Grade

**Required Supplies- Please come prepared for the 1st day

- Mechanical pencils may be used only if they are the non-refillable/ disposable type.

- 2 packs of wide-ruled loose leaf notebook paper

- 1 pencil pouch to carry to rotations

- 1 pair of children's scissors

- 1 glue stick

Literacy

- 1 red 1-inch hard vinyl binder

- 1 set of 5 index divider tabs for binder

- 1 pack of 3x5 index cards

Social Studies/ Health

- 1 white 1-inch hard vinyl binder

- 1 set of 5 index divider tabs for binder

Science

- 1 black/white composition notebook

- 1 green homework folder

Math

- 1 blue spiral notebook
