LHS Poetry Slam is ON THE AIR!

LHS Poetry Slam is in the News!
Check out the Wednesday, March 3rd edition of the Maryland Independent for a review of
the Poetry Slam, "Teens Open Doors to Their Hearts at Poetry Slam -  Intense Feelings Rule
at Lackey's Annual Event."

This year's Slam Participants -Please bring your poems to the library for our Poetry Slam Memory Book.  If you would like a copy of the Maryland Independent article, just ask!   And check out the poetry slam poster on the library window in the main hallway!

Congratulations to all of the participants for outstanding poetry and performances:  Ashley Boyd, H Carter, Kelsey Cleland, Jakia Johnson, Chynna Keys, Sylvia Kim, Rose Lynch, Courtney Nelson, Brianne Perez, Clarissa Smith, Ashley Sparks, Rachel Stoner, and Kaieah Turner.  The winners were: Joshua Smith - Honorable Mention, Keturah Benson - 3rd Place, Holly Olson - 2nd Place, and Khiyana Hart - 1st Place.

Thank you to our Guest Poets, Mr. Gavin - Gale-Bailey Elementary Teacher, and our own English teachers, Ms. Mahool and Mr. Moore.  Special thanks to our judges, Mr. Gavin - Gale-Bailey Elementary Teacher, Mrs. Spinks - LHS Teacher Colleague Coordinator, and Ms. Young - Content Specialist for English/Language (Central Office).

Kudos to our Superior Master of Ceremonies, Ayden Gotzmer!

We hope to see more participants at next year's Poetry Slam.
