November Updates

The Reading theme for this month is "We're A Family".  The stories shared are related to this theme and include Goldilocks and the Three Bears, which is fiction and a non-fiction story; "Families" that links the reading theme to social studies.

The Alphafriends introduced this month are:  Tiggy Tiger, Benny Bear, and Nyle Noodle.  These Alphafriends help the children learn letter identification and beginning consonant sounds.  The children love the Alphafriends and the little song we learn about each one.

Please continue to read together as a family.  Reading stories is wonderful, but you can also read nursery rhymes, songs, a calendar ~ make a list and read it together!

The Math skills taught and practiced for the month of November are all related to counting and comparing.  The lessons focus on counting accurately, counting backward, comparing 2 objects to determine which is longer, comparing two or more quantities to determine which is more and writing numbers correctly.

Being thankful for family and friends and remembering to say "thank you" will be our social studies themes.

     We look forward to:

  • Parent/Teacher conferences on Thursday, November 5.
  • the Scholastic Book Fair ~ November 2 – 6.
  • the BIG EVENT on November 6.
  • the first quarter Awards Assembly on Tuesday, November 10 at 9:30.
  • celebrating American Freedom Day and honoring our military veterans on Friday, November 13.
  • the Thanksgiving holiday, November 25 – 27.

Happy November!
