Kindergarten News May Updates Reading Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and grandmothers! Our reading theme is all about SPRING~"Spring Is Here" is the title.
The stories that will be shared are colorfully illustrated and allow the children to read, build vocabulary, and comprehend. All of the short vowel sounds will have been taught by the end of this Kindergarten year. Kindergartners are blending sounds to read short words like: sat, ten, lip, mop, and bus.
These sight words will be added to the word wall during the month of May: do with it
Math Addition and Subtraction is the unit focus during this month of May. The Math Investigations series teaches these computation skills through games. The kids will have additional practice with combinations and equations for addition and subtraction facts using Fast Math, Brain Pop, Jr., Education City and Successmaker ~ computer programs used in Charles County classrooms to support the skills the children are learning during their Math workshop and center time. Young children love Math!
