Our Language Arts teachers are trained to use The Accelerated Reading Program and STAR in the classroom. Our students are STAR tested to identify their Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) or reading range. We use the online Renaissance Place Program (Accelerated Reader) to provide unlimited quizzes for our students. We have over 5,000 AR books available for our students to select to read. Since we have unlimited quizzes (thousands) through the Resonance Place Program. Students may read books approved by the teacher from other libraries and take the quiz. The library media center books are marked with reading levels so that our students may select books in their reading level but also may check out books for pleasure.
After reading an Accelerated Reader (AR) book, then students may take a computerized reading test which check for comprehension. The goal is for the student to score 85% or higher to demonstrate mastery reading of their book. Students are given immediate feedback through a report, which is a short, diagnostic report.
