AdministrationSandra McDuffie, Principal Sandra McDuffie served as the first vice principal at William A. Diggs Elementary School for the 06-07 school year. On June 12, 2007, the Board of Education appointed Ms. McDuffie as principal of Diggs.
Ms. McDuffie began her teaching career in 1993 as an elementary teacher in Hillsborough County Public Schools in Tampa, Florida. She moved to Maryland in 1994, where she taught sixth grade for several years at Ft. Washington Forest Science and Math Technology School in Prince George's County Public Schools. Ms. McDuffie was hired as the Challenge Grant Coordinator from 2000-2001 at Rose Valley Elementary School in the Prince George's County Public Schools system. Ms. McDuffie came to Charles County Public Schools in 2001, serving first as vice principal at Walter J. Mitchell Elementary School and then as vice principal at William A. Diggs.
Ms. McDuffie earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, FL and her master's degree in school administration and supervision from Bowie State University.
Nidia Black, Vice-Principal Black has been appointed as vice principal of William A. Diggs Elementary School. She served as vice principal at T.C. Martin Elementary School for two years before transferring to Diggs.
Mrs. Black began her full-time teaching career in 1996 as a first-grade teacher in King George, Virginia. She earned her bachelor's degree in geography from Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi. She was certified to teach geography and elementary education in Virginia.
Mrs. Black earned her master's degree in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.
Jacqueline Couvillon, Administrative AssistantJacqueline Couvillon is assigned to William A. Diggs Elementary School as an administrative assistant for the 2007-08 school year. She transferred from Berry Elementary School, where she also served as an administrative assistant.
Mrs. Couvillon began her teaching career in 1980 as a pre-school teacher in La Marque, Texas. In 1989, she was hired by Charles County Public Schools as a dually certified teacher in Generic Special Education and Natural Science in Secondary Education. She has served as a teacher at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School, Westlake High School and Maurice J. McDonough High School. Mrs. Couvillon has taught a wide range of science courses, and helped develop the Charles County Leadership Development Program and the Maurice J McDonough Academy, a program designed to improve academic performance and develop student leadership skills.
Mrs. Couvillon earned her bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Houston Clearlake, Houston, Texas, and her master's in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Maryland (McDaniel's College). She has an Advanced Study Certificate in Education, in School Administration and Supervision, College of Notre Dame, Baltimore, Maryland. Mrs. Couvillon is an advanced candidate for a Ph.D. in Supervision and Leadership in Schools for Changing Populations at the College of Notre Dame.
