Administration
Sandra Taylor, Principal
On June 12,
2007, the Board of Education appointed Mrs. Taylor (formerly Ms. McDuffie) as
principal of William A. Diggs Elementary. Mrs. Taylor began her teaching career in 1993
as an elementary teacher in Hillsborough County Public Schools in Tampa, Florida. She moved to Maryland in 1994, where she
taught sixth grade for several years at Ft. Washington Forest Science and Math Technology
School in Prince George's County Public Schools. Mrs.
Taylor was hired as the Challenge Grant Coordinator from 2000-2001 at Rose Valley Elementary School in the Prince George's County Public Schools system.
Mrs. Taylor came to Charles County Public Schools in 2001, serving first as
vice principal at Walter
J. Mitchell
Elementary School and
then as vice principal at William A. Diggs.
Mrs. Taylor
earned her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Florida Agricultural
and Mechanical University
in Tallahassee, FL
and her Master's Degree in School Administration and Supervision from Bowie State
University.
David Hoogerheide, Vice Principal
Mr.
Hoogerheide began his teaching career in 1995 at Barnaby
Manor Elementary
school in Prince George’s
County Public Schools after receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary
Education and a science certification for Middle School from Taylor University. In 1998, Mr. Hoogerheide came to CCPS to
teach science (Grades 2 – 5) at Dr. James Craik Elementary until 2002. During that time, Mr. Hoogerheide earned his
Master’s degree in Administration from Bowie State
University.
In 2002 –
04, he served as an Instructional Resource teacher for Matula, Middleton, and Malcolm Elementary schools, and he eventually
became an Instructional Specialist for Malcolm and Berry Elementary (04 –
07).
In 2007, Mr.
Hoogerheide became Vice Principal at Mt.
Hope Nanjemoy
Elementary School, where
he served until this school year.
Jacqueline Couvillon, Vice Principal
In 1989,
Mrs. Couvillon was hired by Charles County Public Schools as a dually certified
teacher in Generic Special Education and Natural Science in Secondary
Education.She has served as a teacher
at Benjamin Stoddert
Middle School, Westlake
High School and Maurice J. McDonough High School.Mrs. Couvillon has taught a wide range of
science courses. Mrs. Couvillon served the past two years at William A. Diggs Elementary School
as an Administrative Assistant and recently promoted to Vice Principal.
Mrs.
Couvillon earned her bachelor’s degree from the University
of Houston Clearlake in Houston, Texas.She received her master’s degree in
Curriculum and Instruction from Western Maryland
(McDaniel’s College).She has an
Advanced Study Certification in Education Administration and Supervision from
College of Notre Dame in Baltimore,
Maryland.Mrs. Couvillon is an advanced candidate for a
Ph.D. in Supervision and Leadership in Schools for Changing Populations at the
College of Notre Dame.
