Administration Mr. Darryl Carlos Evans, Principal
Mr. Evans is the principal of Berry Elementary. He started his career in 1993 as a long-term sub for Prince Georges County Public School System. While in Prince Georges County, Mr. Evans taught grades 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th. In 1998, he made a move to teaching in Fairfax County Public Schools where he taught grades 4th, 5th and 6th. In 2000, He became the assistant principal at Groveton Elementary in Fairfax, Virginia where he served for one year. In 2000, Mr. Evans became the vice principal of Jenifer Elementary School in Waldorf, Maryland. In 2005, Mr. Evans became the principal of Berry Elementary.
Mr. Evans holds both an Associate of Arts degree (A.A.) and a Bachelor of Science Degree (B.S.) in Elementary Education (K-6). His Master of Education degree (M.Ed.) is in the area of Supervision and Administration. He has started work on a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership and hopes to complete it in the near future.
Mr. Evans takes a "hands-on" approach when leading a school. He can be seen walking the halls, talking with students and working with students and the community to ensure that our Berry Jaguars have the very best. His motto is simple, "if it's not good enough for his own children then it's not good enough for any child." He welcomes your input and wishes all of you a successful school year.
Ms. Shannon Finnegan, Vice Principal
Ms. Finnegan comes to Berry with a diverse background in education. Her experiences include teaching general education in both public and private elementary, middle and high schools. She has taught special education students with autism, learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, and intellectual disabilities in high school and elementary school.
Ms. Finnegan has been in Charles County for 8 years. During this time, she has served as a special educator, gifted resource teacher, elementary instructional specialist and instructional specialist for special education. Ms. Finnegan holds high expectations for students and staff and has a deep belief that all children can learn and deserve a respectful, inviting learning environment. She is excited to be at Berry and looks forward to working with Berry's outstanding community. |
