Technology

Technology Literacy by Eighth Grade

We use The Maryland Technology Literacy Standards for Students as a guide to integrate technology into the essential curriculum.  Students use a variety of programs including Microsoft Office programs such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel.  Students also have access to websites that provide additional support for essential curriculum skills.  Students work on a variety of technology projects with our computer lab facilitator, Mrs. Gaume, on a weekly basics.  Barnhart also has a Title 1 Technology Teacher, Mrs. Rooney, who works with teachers and students to strengthen student achievement through the use of technology in the classroom.

SMART school

The 2010-2011 school year marks the third year of teaching with SMART technology at C. Paul Barnhart Elementary.  Both students and teachers are learning how powerful the use of a SMART board can be in the classroom.

Students at Barnhart are creating wonderful digital projects throughout the school year.  These projects allow students to express their understanding of skills they are learning in the classroom while at the same time learn new technology skills.  The CPBarnhart Wikispace has been set up to share our digital projects with the world.  Click here, to check it out.
