The Charles County Adult Education Program offers a variety of morning and evening classes including preparation for a Maryland State High School Diploma, English as a Second Language, Basic Skills, Job Skills, and Citizenship classes.
Depending upon the type of skills needed, individuals may qualify to enroll directly in one of two pathways which lead to a high school diploma - General Educational Development (GED®) or National External Diploma Program (NEDP).
Browse Our Programs for specific class descriptions and Contact Us for an appointment to help you decide which program is best for your needs.
Adult Education works closely with the Maryland Dept. of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation (DLLR) to ensure that all programs provide the best up-to-date services for our adult learners. Most classes are taught at the Lifelong Learning Center located in Waldorf on John Hanson Drive between the John Hanson Middle and J.P. Ryon Elementary Schools.
Childcare is available, at the Lifelong Learning Center, for ages 2 months to five years while their parent attends morning classes at the Center.
Students, age 16 or older, who wish to work toward a high school diploma must first attend two short orientation sessions. During orientation the pathways to a Maryland State High School Diploma are presented. Students are evaluated before being assigned to a class. To register for the sessions, held once each month on either Thursday evenings or Friday mornings, Contact Us.
